I agree with you. I think that by not trying to solve the issue unilaterally Israel could breach the gap. If combined with some reasonable PR - for a change - Israel could try to present itself as being on the same side of the divine as the rest of Arab countries and that would be fantastic news for the region. BTW, it's a beautiful paradox that by helping some Arabs to fight Israel, Iran is creating a common interest for Arabs and Israelis.

The Arab regimes perceive Iran as the bigger threat than Israel, that much is certain. but it doesn't mean that the ignorant masses in the streets, share their regime's view. that's why while behind the scenes, they more or less work with Israel, but on the domestic level, still use Israel as the boogeyman. even Egypt, which has a peace treaty with Israel and some common strategic goals, still vilifies Israel on the domestic level.
